EuroMaint Rail implementing organisational changes and serving personnel with redundancy notices at its refurbishment workshop in Malmö

EuroMaint Rail is reorganising its activities at its refurbishment workshop in Malmö and all 91 employees are being served with redundancy notices.

The refurbishment workshop will continue to be operated as a project organisation with just over 20 people. Some 65-70 employees will be terminated during January-February 2010. Terminated personnel will be offered employment in a staffing company at the end of the notice period.

EuroMaint Rail's refurbishment projects are being carried out at a dedicated workshop at Södra Bulltoftavägen in Malmö. Both comfort-related refurbishments as well as technical upgrades are performed on rolling stock here. The business is completely project-based and the demand for specific skills and resources vary significantly over time. There are substantial requirements for resource planning and staffing with the right skills for each unique refurbishment project.

At present more than 60 per cent of the refurbishment project staff at EuroMaint Rail is being hired from staffing and consultancy companies. Staffing with temporary personnel to a greater extent in the future will ensure that the right skills are available for upcoming projects and that the company will also be able to be operated during periods with a low order volume.

The order volume at the workshop is currently good. This allows for a solution where all the terminated personnel can be offered employment by a staffing company. Negotiations are proceeding with several staffing companies, and at present the specific staffing company that will be offering employment to all terminated personnel from the refurbishment workshop remains to be clarified.
