A-Train is investing almost SEK 100 million on the Arlanda Express – presenting a new design and a brand new travel experience.
EuroMaint Rail has been commissioned to refurbish the rolling stock in order to further improve comfort and increase capacity.
"The fleet of 7 Arlanda Express trains is to be given a brand new, modern design. The design has been developed by Idesign. EuroMaint Rail has been commissioned to carry out an extensive refurbishment of both the interior and exterior," explains Per Thorstenson, CEO of A-Train, which operates the Arlanda Express.
The upgrade will mean that the level of passenger comfort will be improved even further. By increasing the passenger capacity, Arlanda Express will also contribute towards limiting Arlanda's total environmental impact. The rolling stock will be equipped with new technology and the goal is to make the rail connection an integral part of the flight experience.
A-Train selected EuroMaint Rail to have the responsibility for the refurbishment in competition with several other companies.
"EuroMaint Rail has offered us good technical solutions at an attractive price and with a full understanding of our ambitions for the travel experience. Since 2005, we have worked very closely with EuroMaint Rail regarding the maintenance of the Arlanda Express - a high quality of maintenance that has continuously yielded a 99.9 % availability of our rolling stock. The fact that EuroMaint Rail knows us and our needs well certainly helped in our choice of refurbishment provider, and we are confident that the disruption to our transport services will be minimised during the time that the trains are out of service for refurbishment," explains Per Thorstenson.
"We are obviously very honoured and pleased that A-Train has chosen us for the refurbishment of the Arlanda Express. It is exciting to work with such a well thought out and modern design, and we will also be well prepared for the maintenance of the 'new' rolling stock once they return into service," says Mats Önner, CEO of EuroMaint Rail.
The commission to refurbish the Arlanda Express will commence in February 2010 and the work will be carried out by EuroMaint Rails refurbishment service in Malmö.
