MTR, with Euromaint as maintenance partner, will operate commuter rail services in Stockholm. This was announced today by the Traffic Committee of Stockholm's County council.

MTR has been given the task of operating Stockholm's commuter rail services by Stockholm County Council, SLL. The task covers everything from planning and traffic operation to manning stations, and also includes property and rolling stock maintenance. The rolling stock maintenance will be carried out by a company co-owned by MTR and Euromaint.

The selection criteria for the procurement was price and quality and MTR, together with Euromaint, produced an attractive offer.

- We are very pleased with the confidence in the maintenance of the rolling stock that both SLL and MTR have shown us. We have wide previous experience of the rolling stock types and have worked intensively with MTR to develop an offer with unique solutions for rolling stock maintenance. "We will now ensure that the availability of the rolling stock is further increased and contributes to increased customer satisfaction in all those who travel by commuter train", says Ove Bergkvist, CEO at Euromaint Rail.

Stockholm's commuter rail services run between Bålsta-Nynäshamn, Märsta-Södertälje, Södertälje Centrum-Gnesta and Älvsjö-Uppsala via Stockholm C and Arlanda. Maintenance of the rolling stock will take place at strategically located workshops in Södertälje, Älvsjö and Bro.

The contract covers 129 vehicles of rolling stock types X60, X60A and X60B and runs from December 2016 for at least ten years.
